BBC Today 18th August 2014; Peter Righton

This extract from yesterday’s Today programme also includes an interview with blogger Ian Pace.

A paedophile at the centre of a forthcoming historical abuse inquiry advised the Home Office on changes to the residential child care system.

Peter Righton gave “considerable assistance” as an expert in child care to a government report in 1970.

He had earlier left a teaching job over complaints of child abuse. He later became a member of a pro-paedophile campaign group. Righton died in 2007.

The Home Office said it was “absolutely committed” to stamping out child abuse.

In July, Home Secretary Theresa May announced an overarching inquiry into how public institutions had handled historical claims of child sexual abuse.

This followed a campaign by MPs whose concerns included evidence of a wide paedophile network in documents seized from Righton’s home in 1992 after his arrest over child abuse images.

tis timely that righton gets a mention.
some of his close friends are involved in ongoing investigations/court cases.
he had direct links to (and influence over) many organizations and individuals.
he was employed as an adviser to the government despite or because of his nature ,contacts and knowledge.
he had direct links to some very spooky types.
he had one degree of separation from the most powerful in the land.
he had some very nasty interests both personal and “scientific”.
he had the good fortune to die before the shit hit the fan cos i would really like to interrogate him in depth.
tis a pity he cant be persuaded to give up all the information he had but maybe the paperwork that he was stupid/arrogant/protected enough to keep(some of which has now been recovered from storage in dusty police files) can be useful in some way.
