Do Ye The Little Things In Life.

Today, is St David’s Day and I think it’s appropriate to remember not only the survivors of child abuse in both North Wales and South Wales Children’s Homes but also those that are sadly no longer with us. Those that felt they could no longer go on and those that died under mysterious circumstances because they knew too much.

St David’s final words were ” Do ye the little things in life”, and with that in mind I’d like to provide links to some excellent blogs, all by people who are doing their bit to get justice for victims of child abuse, especially those from Welsh Children’s Homes.

Let’s make it easy for you all to understand.

I am 9 years old, I was sent to bed at 8pm and it’s dark, I am afraid in the dark but the yellow stark street light from outside does nothing to ease my fear, it sends flickers around the ceiling which I watch not with any real interest but it helps me not to think about what might happen…
Downstairs voices raised, I pull the thin sheet a little higher and little tighter… would I escape the hands tonight? I have to stay awake because if I do I might be able to escape those hands…
What time do adults go to bed, it’s a long time to wait to know I am safe to sleep, I drowsily nod off for seconds every now and again but jump back awake with a start…
The air feels sickeningly thick and soupy to breathe when you’re this tired and you’re only Nine..
I am not afraid of the dark, I am afraid of what happens in the dark…

I am not sure what time it was when I was able to sleep but it was so dark the yellow light outside seemed to shrink to nothing… I fall into a watchful sleep, the kind of alert sleep that has no real sustinance for a child…

It’s 9am at school, I am tired… I cannot concentrate, I am told off for not listening… how do I tell the teacher I am not stupid… I am just so very tired…

Maybe tonight I will be able to sleep…

How does a child learn in this situation? Education is the least of the worries… survival is all that matters…

  2. You only want to listen to articulate abuse victims David? I’ve heard some insensitive arrogance in my time, but you take the biscuit. What exactly do you think sexual abuse involves? What do yo think it would do to a person’s body, mind and soul, let alone their ability to “articulate”, especially on the very subject of that person’s suffering? Are you for real?

Thanks for the links, but Daffodil Rites is not a survivor of South or North Wales. It is s good link, but she is a survivor o Ritual Abuse, and fights for justice as well, but she is not from South or North Wales.

Cheesy, and I haven’t decided if the Kennedys were evil or good, but I reckon this is a good message:
“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events……It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centres of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” – Robert Kennedy
I’m doing my bit whenever I can

I’m never articulate, but I’m kind of intuitive, it’s threads like this that make me bang on to my mates to have a look at the society they are living in.

  6. chess, Is Chris Spivey an idealistic searcher for truth (in this regard)? Is David Icke likewise? Is there scurrilous and contemptible gossip abroad? Are blogs (on this subject) the gospel?
It is my impression that there has been a quite scandalous abuse of children in care. It is my fervent hope that this scandal is exposed; those responsible for this exposure (and the bringing to justice of those involved) will deserve respect beyond Stately honours. I cling to the hope that people like Tom Watson and David Henke (of Exaro)) will be the vehicles of this exposure..
In the meantime I am very wary of the stuff I read on blogs.

    • Why David, why are you so very wary of everything you read on blogs ? I’m not being contentious, I just genuinely want to know why you are putting ALL your faith in those very places that are partly responsible for this awful situation in the first place. ie. Parliament and main stream journalists. You have to pay to read Exaro’s site, you don’t have to pay for any of the blogs, or Twitter for that matter. So yes in that respect Spivey and Icke are far more idealistic seachers for truth, than David Henke and Watson who are doing a paid job of work. No, the blogs aren’t the gospel, but in the blogs and the relevant forums, I have found a world – that until October last year – I didn’t even know existed and it’s a world that makes far more sense to me than any newspaper. Start opening your mind – please, because if you do you will find a wealth of untapped knowledge out there.

      • rainbow, I understand completely the point you make with regards to Tom Watson and David Henke. Apart from that, I have no comment to make.

  7. chess, I do not own a car nor a mobile phone, I have never bought a lottery ticket; I do not watch “Big Brother” or “Eastenders” , nor Coronation Street. I am a vegetarian and hate cars with a passion that you could not imagine. Apart from that, I am the average guy.

    • john carey

your not that `David` who is some kind of kung foo chinese priest, who just has a bed roll on his back, going from town to town, not wanting to fight the bad guys – but always end up in a fight?

    • Jane

You big yourself up way too much ‘David’ – I’d say you were a well below average guy, having read your overly pompous drivel.

  8. andy

don’t worry i intend to shout my story from the rooftops
it’s a bit random and fractured at the mo so articulation is not the best and there are some legal issue’s that are ongoing and restrictive but no one will silence me when i can sort my personal issue’s i will tackle this head on
thanks to everyone for there kind comments
    andy

  9. cantankerous

It’s so reassuring to know we have “David” on hand to decide who is articulate and should be listened to, and who is inarticulate, mixed up and pretentious. Sorting the wheat from the chaf , as it were. Surely ALL survivors of abuse should be listened to. But what would i know I’m “stupid.”

  10. dogman

Apologies for the random er and missing the t out of interesting. My pc is of course dyslexic, whilst I am perfect.

  11. gojam, Ask “andy” if he is willing to tell his story; he is articulate and able to tell the story himself. But better still through yourself.

    • If Andy wants to tell his story then he can contact me but it’s his choice and whether he does or not he is very welcome here.

  12. dogman

Gojam and zoompad, please continue with your er ineresting blogs. Andy, thank you for your comments and I sincerely wish you well. I happen to believe that people deserve a platform to inform people and I manage to forgive the odd expletive, spelling mistake and grammatical error. I have a best mate that is dyslexic, and has a razor sharp mind , so I know better than to be presumptious or condescending!

  13. Enna

For goodness sake, shouldn’t this be a time to unite as human beings and not discriminate against good people doing good work? There has been too much pain, too many secrets and too many cover ups. Stop fighting each other just because we use different words or hold different beliefs, lets start to respect those who care and are trying in their own ways to bring an end to the nightmare of abuse and suffering.

  14. cantankerous

Where did the p*** o** go. i’d rather the comment stood as it was posted.

  15. cantankerous

The fact you have to ask who Jimmy is proves you have not read the Outlaw blog, yet still saw fit to make negative comments.

    • Short and sweet, The “Outlaw” blog was one I did read a little of, until he referenced Chris Spivey and David Icke. Before the reference to these characters I found his writing and content tedious and pretentious anyway, I was thankful he gave me reason to exit.
“Cantankerous” you are by name, stupid you are by nature if you think it necessary for me to know the full profile (including his given name) of someone before I can read (parts) of their blog.

      • David? Not a certain Mr. Rose by any chance.. Tedious and pretentious eh? Very good, remind me again where I can read anything you have written so I can post some suitable comments there….

  16. Now “andy” has something to say, he has been there. And he deserves an audience.

  17. andy

the abuse in almost all welsh care homes either physical, psychological and sexual, the atmosphere in these places was one of total fear(for me) wether it be from a senior member of staff that used to punch us in the face for being a few minutes late to the almost unbelievable amount of bullying that resulted from the pent up anger that was festering away amongst us all so much so that when we got attention from a pedo it was sometime welcomed because at least they were being nice to us, this unfortunately leads to very fractured individuals that find it hard to trust and when you can’t trust people you don’t have a hope until we can begin to forgive our selves
thank you gojam again for highlighting these important issue’s
    andy

    • …and thank you Andy for such an articulate, concise and honest reply to the above nit-picking.

      • andy

i spent years not even knowing about my abuse(put it in a nice safe place in the back of my mind) but now i know i can do something even if it is just being honest and truthful

Callie whoops I mean David are you just trying to provoke a reaction ?. I don’t follow three of the blogs Gojam has linked to (there aren’t enough hours in the day) but I do follow Jimmy’s excellent blog and he is extremely articulate. He is a complex person that has issues but he is not “mixed up” he is very clear in his blog postings. Maybe you should save your criticism for the abusers and those that allowed them access to vulnerable children.

    • Who is “Jimmy”?
I think the vogue word is “troll”. I am not a slavish follower of anyone; I have problems with bloggers (on this issue) who ally themselves with the likes of Chris Spivey and David Icke. Gojam has quoted Spivey and Icke; I went to one of the leads above, Jesus! they quoted Icke.
Callie, I think, took issue with gojam over certain lines he was taking; I guess I am doing the same, but I will hold with him until he starts talking lizzards and shape-shifting.

      • David, I’m happy to accept criticism. I’ve already said I view all media as an ecosystem where we all have our niche.

      • chess

Just wondering, who is David? Who are you David? And why do you spend time on blogs like this that are so obviously disagreeable to you? These guys are doing their best to combat the sexual abuse of children and to bring to account its perpetrators. Their message is surely important to all right thinking people. Does it really matter that the bloggers’ style of writing or communication skills is not to your taste? You are not obliged to read!

  19. You make odd recommendations; when people have something worth communicating(?), it is useful if they are able to communicate.

    • All four of those blogs are run by people who have been in the Welsh Children’s Home system.

      • And are suitably mixed up (and inarticulate). Total sympathy with anyone who was caught up in that vile system, but the bits I have read do indicate damaged people. They are sources better communicators could use rather than front line communicators.
Demetrious Panton was abused, somehow he came through it all balanced, intelligent, and extremely articulate.

  20. I am one of the Staffordshire Pindown child abuse survivors, and Stafford Police have cautioned me three times now to stop blogging, instead of investigating the systematic persecution and abuse I have suffered over the years.
This is my blog that they want me to close down:
    http://zoompad.blogspot.com/2011/01/colin-tucker.html

    • john carey

you must be doing something right if the cops want you closed down – keep your chin up!!!

    • Hi Zoompad,

I check your blog out regularly too. I was just sticking to blogs that deal more specifically with child abuse in Wales.

  21. We should have some sort of rememberance service or rally or something to honour the abuse victims who have fallen, like the Army do to the fallen soldiers, and their names and faces should not be forgotten.
