Music teacher at prep school jailed for sexual abuse of boys
A music teacher at a preparatory school has been jailed for persuading young boys to perform sex acts after giving them alcohol, drugs and money.
Paul Woodward, 48, who taught at £11,000-a-year New Beacon school in Sevenoaks, Kent, was branded a “predatory paedophile” by a judge at Maidstone Crown Court.
The outwardly-respectable fiend plied boys under 16 with drink, offered them money for sex and even arranged for them to meet drug dealers to get them cannabis as part of a sickening grooming process.
Once the children had been lured in, Woodward – who lived alone in a £350,000 semi- then persuaded them to perform a string of sex acts on themselves at his home in sedate Hildenborough, Kent.
Woodward’s secret double life has horrified parents and colleagues at New Beacon school – which dates back to 1882 and has the Latin motto Dare Exfumo Lucem (Light before Darkness).
The school is set in 21 acres of gardens in the Kent countryside and is home to 400 boys aged four to 13.
