Social worker at children’s home near Tonbridge was ‘father figure’ to boy he allegedly abused
A JURY has been told a social worker at a children’s home in Chiddingstone was viewed as a father figure by the boy he allegedly abused.
Richard Gallacher, 58, is on trial at Maidstone Crown Court for a string of sex offences against seven boys during the 1980s and 1990s.
He was a resident social worker at Knotley Hall, near Tonbridge. He has pleaded not guilty to 13 indecent assault charges and to two others involving serious sexual offences.
The ex-Barnardos boy giving evidence – now in his 40s – who for legal reasons cannot be named, claims Gallacher abused him for three years when he was at homes at Knotley Hall and at another home in Croydon.
