POLICE say the investigation into a Peterborough school where there were allegations of sexual assaults on more than 100 children has been closed.

Police say there will not be any criminal proceedings in relation to the incidents that were alleged to have involved 117 children at Ellindon School in Bretton for the 17 years of the school’s existence.

Claims included the rape of boys and girls and a practice called “crowpecking” where children were allegedly hit on the head by knuckles

The school, for children with behavioural and emotional difficulties was closed in 1998 amid the abuse claims when Peterborough City Council took over the running of education in the city.
