A former North Wales Police superintendent who was jailed for sexually abusing young boys has died.

Gordon Anglesea, 79, of Old Colwyn, Conwy county, was jailed for 12 years for historical offences in November.

He abused two boys between 1982 and 1987 when they were 14 or 15, his trial at Mold Crown Court heard.

Anglesea died in hospital on Thursday, his solicitor Jonathan Wall, of Manchester-based Burton Copeland, said.

In November, the retired police officer lodged an appeal against his convictions for three indecent assaults on one boy and one indecent assault on another.

At least it was a full life sentence.
If he had been convicted decades ago it would have been better on many grounds and there is now no chance that he will tell all about others he knew of and protected (unless there are documents among his effects or a deathbed statement that cover such matters).
There are times when I wish I believed in eternal torment as that chap would be a perfect candidate for Old Nick’s specialities. Maybe he did believe such things and died in expectation of his long and unpleasant future in hell which would be a small bonus in a horrible situation.
Anglesea dead is not the end of the matter regarding his involvement, there is still a lot of evil to be uncovered, fought and remedied .

This type do not give death bed confessions unfortunately! lodging an appeal just shows the makeup of such a man . Such a shame for the victims that he wasnt found guilty sooner, all these aged offenders do not bring the justice so many deserve.

It is a shame, he wasn’t jailed before he was jailed, all the hurt and helplessness of his victims, that will now feel at last that he got as others did his just deserts, all be it only for a short time served in prison, but the blessing being, he will serve longer in Hell, i’m not a believer , But thank God
