Sick McCann Posts ‘Not Illegal’

From the excellent StopTheMyths Forum

Apparently, Leicestershire Police and the CPS do not believe that inciting others to perpetrate violent acts on others is illegal.

Strange but true…

I wonder why so many people oppose the McCanns…..

  3. Maybe, we could all turn our mobile phones off and then back on again at an agreed time to show our solidarity with the Mcanns?

    • Terry B

Solidarity? As a parent I can’t imagine what’s it’s like to loose a child but then as a parent I wouldn’t leave my kids alone while I went out to dinner.

If they had been from the local council estate they would have been ripped apart in the media for leaving their kids alone and the twins taken into care.

      • Then as a parent you’ll understand that they are probably beating themselves up about it anyway and they don’t deserve to be trolled by parents lucky enough not to have their child run into the road because of a momentary lack of attention or have their child drowned in a pond or something similar. As a parent you should know that parenthood is a life sentence of worry and heart-stopping moments.

Or is it because they are middle class that you think they deserve this ?

      • Ahem…. I think you are missing the point of my post, Look it up with regards to the Mcanns ;-)

      • Terry B

I don’t think they deserve anything and I do believe they’ve done extremely well keeping the attention on their case.

I just find it hard to sympathise with someone so negligent.

      • Terry B

        @ Stardog23, penny dropped

    • Last of the Truffle Snorting Heroes

      Hasn’t that been done already ? ;)

  4. Taboo

    >>almost all WOMEN

Indeed. Wonder also what the age range of those comment posters is: my guess is that they will tend to be middle-aged and older women. It has long been my sense that once women realise no man will want to have sex with them ever again, they can become oddly energetic in not always wholly positive ways.

  5. Gary

Regardless of how tasteless these remarks are, the CPS has mede a decision that they do not constitute a threat. I think they are correct, there is no real threat, just joking in very poor taste. We see worse than this levelled at prominent politicians daily and prosecution is rare. Sadly, prosecution draws more attention to the remarks.

    • anon

Some of the comments have in my eyes been very real threats, not just thinbgs about slapping. This is one of the minor threats. People have been prosecuted for much less. Do you realise that people have gone to Gerry McCann’s workplace, the petting farm Kate McCann takes her children? Or that they have posted pictures of supporters security systems?

  6. Glenn

There is just something about the MCCanns and their story that does not ring true. Maybe that is why so many do not believe their story.

    • anon

Its not their story its the story of the British police, the Portuguese police and the Portuguese attorney general. Unfortunetly one police officer with a conviction for lying about the mother of another missing child leaked so many lies that the urban myths will never disappear

      • Terry B

Have you formed your opinion of Goncalo Amaral from the UK news media?

      • The Portuguese police and Public Prosecutors ended their investigation as they had determined they pretty much knew what had happened and that unless someone finally talks then they have zero chance of obtaining the result they believe is due. Note how, we haven;t heard a word from the Mcanns since their whole case against the cadaver dog fell to pieces when the guy in the USA admitted 1 he’d murdered his wife all those decades ago and 2 the cadaver dogs spotted the exact place he had stashed her body before disposing of it..

        |For some reason the British police have been “leaned on” and you have to ask yourself why it is that, virtually every last retired copper who has spoken about the case has the opinion that “they would have arrested the Mcanns”. You might also want to read up on where the money has gone that thousands world wide have donated, that is almost as big a scandal as Maddie’s death.

  7. Particularly on twitter, the McCann ‘debate’ is riddled with abusive gatekeeping practices. At any second, once a person has presented any kind of ‘threat’, that person may find themselves hit from all sides with brick-filled handbags. Any strong opinion, or even previous lack of interest can bring insults and even quite creepy abuses like hate blog trolling.
At the very least, even if not trolled, a person can expect not a few entreaties to read this or that…this, usually by ‘genuine’ people, less apt to be carrying a handbag.
Saying all that, analysis shows a definite ‘upswing’ in trolling happened at a specific time, not too long ago…strange.
This debate, for the public, has died a death long ago. There is no proof that this couple killed their child – as such, any accusations levelled at them, are most likely aimed at the broken heart of grieving parents
I have ‘met’ many individuals that believe strongly for and against the ‘murder’ hypothesis – but all of them are astounded by the level of bitterness and hostility now surrounding the fracas that used to be a debate…if a little screechy.
This fracas has ensured that just about anyone with any sense, has stayed out of the mired embarrassment…convenient.
In fact, I have had no few people telling me that everything has gone REALLY bad, since a certain moustache-wielding reporter decided to wade into the debate, fresh from a stifling of a people’s voice, as it were. Since said event, lots of ‘new blood’ has come screeching to facebook and twitter.
    Why?
    Question:
If any concept-company (like, say a thinktank, or a newspaper newsroom) had nothing to sell, is it not reasonable to assume that said company would find, invest in, and then promote a product?
Further, is it not therefore reasonable to assume, that the ‘best’ way to promote such a product, is to raise interest in said product – using debate, etc?
    Conjecture:
If we change ‘company’ to ‘sacked-moustachioed-hack’,
    … ‘product’ to ‘McCann Debate’,
…and ‘debate, etc’ to ‘abject trolling on both sides of debate’ –
…then the whole thing starts to look suss.
    Important Further Question:
If said hack, as conjectured, did indeed march into the debate to gain credibility, to save face, or even – dare I say it – to earn money, then did said presence of said hack come before or after the death of Brenda Leyland?
    Conjecture:
If presence of said hack WAS before the death of the lady – whose name was sullied awfully by the red-tops – then if it is said that:
    Hack+McCann debate=dead person
Then surely this is grounds for further investigation.
Thank you for letting me mull my (very unpopular) thoughts…if they are too outrageous for the comments section on this page, then I understand any reticence to allow it through.

I have yet to release my full analysis of the McCann debate, and its attendant trolls, but this above should show the path investigations have led me.

Why this case, why Madeleine McCann, when thousands of children go missing every year. What disgusts me, it that society thinks they have a right to make this “thiers” it has nothing to do with anyone except the McCanns and the police

  10. Last of the Truffle Snorting Heroes

The trolling & abuse cited above are unwarranted. I’ve seen much worse too.

Perhaps we’re missing a relevant point though amidst the haze of comments against or for the McCanns. Wouldn’t Murat’s driveway be worth a look? I believe the McCanns have said, several times, that they would leave no stone unturned. Many a fanciful idea has already been chased and we’ve seen such a wide range of photo-fits, I’d have thought they would have explored any sane option suggested.

Whilst I condemn the trolling above, or indeed any incitement to violence towards them, I suspect the reason they are disliked by so many is their swift recourse to litigation to silence all critics and if I were the parent of a lost child, I’d be out there looking for her rather than chasing large settlements through the courts. Each to their own though……

    • InLooker

“I were the parent of a lost child, I’d be out there looking for her”
And where would you start looking?.World’s a big place, right?.

      • Last of the Truffle Snorting Heroes

Well, I wouldn’t look in a court room, or a libel lawyer’s office, I’d be searching every inch of ground spreading outward from where I last saw her. I doubt I’d turn down offers of help or reject credible suggestions of what may have happened as the truth is surely unknown. Ruling an unsearched area out close to the incident wouldn’t therefore feel wise (& I don’t believe Murat killed her btw).

This is the biggest & most well publicised missing person case the world has seen. There’s a lot of people looking but clearly not in the right place yet. Until the truth is known, lobbing a handbag at anyone with a differing opinion (or setting a well funded legal / media team on them) ain’t going to find her or win widespread support.

Much money has changed hands over the loss of an innocent child and into the pockets of lawyers, shady private detectives & has-been media bods. That feels a double injustice.

Many people go missing but a disproportionate amount of taxpayers money has gone into investigations surrounding this specific case. I don’t grudge that but must accept that those taxpayers should be allowed to voice their opinions on the direction of the investigation (& I mean well meant opinions with a view to solving this case, not the opinions of the trolls or those who clearly attempt to encourage criminal behaviour as quoted in this article).
