Judge Mental! : Judge Joanna Greenberg QC

Congratulations go to Judge Joanna Greenberg QC who wins the ‘Judge Mental’ Award this time for her ‘blame the victim’ attitude to justice.

This resulted in Stuart Kerner a 44 year old RE (yes that is Religious Education) teacher who had sex with a 16 year old pupil on school premises to walk away from court with an 18 month suspended sentence.

OF course, blaming women for the lust of men has ancient religious roots that Stuart Kerner will be very well aware of but who’d have thought Judge Joanna Greenberg QC would have shared them ?

“She pursued you. Her friends said she was stalking you. She hung around where she would be near you. She had been obsessed with you for a long time.’There is no evidence you encouraged her in any way. There is no evidence you groomed her. If anything it was she who groomed you. You gave way to temptation”  – Judge Joanna Greenberg QC

Ah well. there you go. That damn temptation thing again, it’s the only thing I can’t resist! (as Oscar Wilde might say)

A religious studies teacher who repeatedly had sex with a pupil and took her virginity on the floor of a school cupboard was spared jail today after a judge said he had been ‘groomed’ by his victim.

Married Stuart Kerner, 44, had sex with the 16-year-old girl at his school in south-east London on a yoga mat and also at his family home when his wife was at work.

In between sex sessions he made her Marmite on toast and they watched Bargain Hunt on television.

However, he walked free from court today after Judge Joanna Greenberg QC gave him a suspended 18 month jail sentence because the pupil ‘pursued’ him.

Today the Attorney General’s office confirmed to MailOnline they will review whether the sentence was too lenient after five complaints from the public.

No words to describe her villainy = A religious studies teacher who repeatedly had sex with a pupil and took her virginity on the floor of a school cupboard was spared jail today after a judge said he had been ‘groomed’ by his victim.

going on the presumption that he did it what hes done is explotian but i cant see how counts as child abuse i think its wrong but 16 is of legal age so ethically and morally speaking its wrong but i cant see how it is legally..

if she was 6 i cant see how crimes being committed hes taking and should be sacked and probely baned from teaching for it but i cant see how hes committed a crime i believe a 16 legally allowed to consent to sex

Quite INCREDIBLE and APPALLING that in 2015 – a female judge can come to the conclusion that this 15 year old adolescent girl ‘groomed’ her 44 year old Religious Knowledge school teacher. SO disturbing that this woman is giving society the heads up, that men are not obliged, expected or even capable of saying no! With judges like this – who needs enemies?! Someone, please – get her out of there and give her early retirement!

Playing devils advocate here, I know he’s the teacher and she’s the pupil, but she’s 16 and pursued (the word stalked has been used) him.

It’s still no excuse for his actions. Even though our legal system is of the adversarial kind, it is concerned with the guilt of the accused not which side is to blame. Therefore even if her actions were at fault, that fault has no bearing on his guilt, nor should it his sentence. Mitigating (i.e. exceptional) circumstances can be taken into consideration, but teenage crushes are not exceptional and we expect teachers to behave right and properly in such circumstances, and in accordance with the law.

Maybe a show a support for falsely accused teachers would be more appropriate, this does not end here, Mr Kerner will be exonerated there was NO sexual contact between him and the so called victim.

And that’s the only issue that should concern us – did he have sex with the girl? If he didn’t, he should go free; if he did, he should go to prison. I presume the jury found sufficient reason to believe he did.

Well, it appears that the AG has already noted the emails sent earlier on 14th January. BBC news has confirmed that he is reviewing the sentence given to Stuart Kerner..

Please don’t let that stop others sending emails – it is now a show of solidarity by the ‘masses’ towards Judge [Mental] Greenberg.

I anyone wants to send an email to the Attorney General to protest at this unduly lenient sentence, they are welcome to copy and amend my correspondence (sent tonight).

It includes all the details required to protest to the AG (name, court, date, judge etc) but posters should add whatever infuriates them about this latest ‘Judge Mental’ case.

    Dear Sir,

I am writing with regard to the case of Stuart Kerner (Vice-Principal of Bexleyheath Academy, South East London). Mr Kerner was found guilty by a jury last month of two counts of sexual activity with a child (16 years old) by a person in a position of trust.

At Inner London Crown Court today (14th January 2015), he was given an 18 month sentence, suspended for 18 months by Judge Joanna Greenberg QC.

In explaining her decision, Judge Greenberg is said to have stated that “If grooming is the right word to use, it was she who groomed you, (and) you gave in to temptation.” She further stated that this teenager, in her view, had ‘stalked’ the teacher.

This man had an 18 month affair with a teenager who was clearly ‘in his academic and pastoral care’

Judge Greenberg said she believed the victim was “intelligent and manipulative” and “showed no compunction” about lying when it suited her. However, Judge Greenberg also acknowledged that the victim was a “vulnerable girl”. The two views expressed by the Judge do not compute – and certainly do not excuse a Vice-Principal who took advantage of his position, charisma and adult power.

All children (including teenagers) should be safe and secure in a school environment where the teachers act in loco parentis.

I ask that you look into this case as a matter of urgency and assess whether you agree that Judge Greenberg was unduly lenient in her sentencing today.

If you agree, I understand that you will forward this case to the Appeal Court for further consideration.

    Yours faithfully,
