DLT on Savile: “Good Luck To Him!”

I wonder what Savile thought of DLT ?

The DJ, who is standing trial accused of indecent assault and sexual assault, said if he suspected Savile was a paedophile, he would have reported him

Dave Lee Travis told police he knew fellow BBC DJ Jimmy Savile liked young girls and thought “good luck to him”, a court has heard.

The veteran broadcaster told officers after his arrest on suspicion of sexual offences that he would have reported Savile if he had known he was a paedophile.

But the star, who is on trial accused of indecently assaulting 10 women and sexually assaulting another, told police that he did not think the girls were under-age, jurors at London’s Southwark Crown Court heard.

  1. I’m not sure I understand why DLT is facing charges at all. Unless I’ve missed something he is charged with groping which back then was not that unusual. The seventies were the days of wolf whistles, yelling suggestive remarks and it was not unusual for women to have the backsides slapped in a ‘friendly’ gesture.

Unless there is more the charges against DLT seem a bit sus.

that’s what i thought what has jimmy savile got to do with crimes Travis is charged with.

Why is DLT being questioned about Savile’s crimes? Isn’t he facing enough charges of his own? This line of questioning supports the suspicions that DLT has been put on trial to create a smokescreen, behind which Savile’s real partners in crime can hide, and not in order to offer justice to those women who have complained about DLT.

Exactly – DLT wasn’t arrested under “Savile and others” – who else has? Even David Smith – his driver – wasn’t under that strand. On that subject does anybody more “in the know” then I know when we might expect a coroners report into Smith’s death?

      Thanks

My uncle Bob was a minder for well known DJs in the 60s and 70s
and he said most were homosexual and used to go mad for the boys who wore the tarted up clothes of the “mods” now all mods were homosexual but they did look very feminine. My uncle also said that DL was always with two homosexual DJs at boys homes and hada reputation of beinga brutal and sadistic sexual exploiter of these young boys

  5. To be fair he has a point. In those days, pretty much as now, girls liked to dress up to go to shows the difference is some form of mild groping/flirtation was more or less considered the norm then, and many girls went alone to shows today its the reverse many girls still go to shows and a parent waits outside in the car.

In some ways lessons have been learned if only by parents
