“These girls, who come, they’re sexually active, sexually mature, they don’t ask for their birth certificate, they don’t know what age they may be.”

What an idiot Bill Roach is, this is possibly the biggest mistake he’s made since he gave his good friend Neil Hamilton his public support when Hamilton stood against the white suited independent Martin Bell in the 1997 General Election.

It’s very reminiscent of  the remarks made by Glenn Hoddle who believed  that the disabled, and others, are being punished for sins in a former life. Hoddle was forced to resign as the England Football manager in 1999 as a consequence of those remarks.

Will the Coronation Street producers stand by their man ?

Bill Roache has caused outrage by appearing to defend stars who sleep with underage girls – and claiming sex abuse victims are paying the price for their behaviour in “previous lives”.

In an astonishing TV interview, the Coronation Street star said it was easy for famous men to be “trapped” by adoring young groupies who throw themselves at them.

And he said of the victims: “If you accept that you are pure love, and if you know that you are pure love and therefore live that pure love, these things won’t happen to you.”

The remark prompted interviewer Garth Bray to ask: “To some people that sounds perhaps like you’re saying victims bring things on themselves – is that what you’re saying?”

Roache replied: “Not quite, but then yes I am, because everything that happens to us has been a result of what we have been in previous lives.”

The 80-year-old actor, who has played Corrie’s Ken Barlow for 53 years, made his bizarre comments in an explosive interview with New Zealand’s One News channel.

This was the man who told us that the Mayan calendar nonsense would usher in a golden age when we would all be able to communicate with our pets telepathically. I’ve just tried it on my cat, and, no, he’s taking no notice of me as usual.
Be sympathetic though; appearing in that awful soap for all those years would turn anyone into a raving lunatic.

He appeared on This Morning recently with a “pet telepathist” trying to convince the hosts you could mind-meld with your tortoise, hamster etc etc… Philip Schofield was bold enough to say “I am seriously sceptical about this”, though in light of recent happenings on that show I’m sure he was being discreet and admirably holding himself back from saying “This is complete bollocks”

Whether a person believes in reincarnation or not, this is the here and now and we must live in the moment. I understand him talking about pure love for our fellow human kind, unfortunately these abusers do not have the capacity to feel pure love in their genetic make up and no amount of love or forgiveness will change their mind set, they are psychopaths and always will be. There is no reasoning with the psychopath, there will never be a eureka moment when they realise their sins, because they are just empty vessels, no remorse, no empathy and they cannot be saved by love. There are some who consider them to be a different species, a fluke of nature or overshadowed by some dimensional demon, whatever they are, they are not human in nature and never will be. For those of us who have suffered at the hands of psychopaths, we have become aware of their cold malevolent intent. We did not have to experience them because of any past life sin, we suffered at their hands because they recognised our caring and empathic nature and saw it as a weakness to be exploited, they cannot understand our capacity to feel love so they seek to destroy us. When you have encountered a psychopath (non human, demonic entity or whatever you believe them to be) the emotional scars will take a long time to heal, but heal they will, and we will continue to gain strength and grow as the loving human beings we are.

Enna, what a great statement. I agree with you on all levels. Roach means well, but his explanation and reason is just half baked. What he is trying to say is that in reincarnating, we have previous knowledge of what will befall us and how we will attract these sorts for the experience, in order to grow spiritually! At least that is what I think he means. Also the Nirvana is unconditional love….not a great comment to make to people so wounded. These abusers are soulless. No compassion. Whatever inhabits them is not of the light, that’s for sure.

i do believe he is a druid. Bats belfry and all that.

  6. He is an Hindu by the sound of it.

  7. nuggy

you shouldent lose your job just for talking bollocks.

  8. Yeah or a Druid, the same thing as a Hindu, basically the same believe.

You don’t have to have a religion to believe in things. Religions make it an excuse for you to do and say. I don’t believe everything but I disbelieve nothing. I am not a member of a religion,( lapsed Catholic), but my choice is not to follow any faith that controls me and my thoughts and gives me excuses to do things.

Why would anybody listen to this vile crap, more to the point why put it on the tv, i mean come on what is the public interest in a tired old has been saying that abuse victims bring it on themselves, very strange.
Read the whole article and not impressed.

  10. Old news. I agree that if these ‘groupies’ are vain enough to seek out a ‘star’ to get close to – ie, sex. Then who’s fault is it. Surely the the star shouldn’t be held accountable if someone, male/female latched onto them and makes it clear that they can have sex. All the girls that did it for the chance of fame with Jimmy Savile, to get to see their favourite band or be on TOTP etc etc. Did they tell Jimmy how old they were, did they look older than they really were at the time. I’d hazard a guess on that one. Yes they looked older and didn’t let it be known that they were 14 or 15 or whatever.

Bill Roache said that he’d bedded ‘1000s’ of women a long time ago.

    • I can’t think that many of these girls did tell him their age seeing as he went to visit them at schools or sexually assaulted them while terminally ill or paralysed in Children’s hospitals or on Children’s Wards of hospices or hospitals. When you roam schools looking for girls you can say threw themselves at you, the no birth certificate defence is quite hard to uphold when they’re in school uniform or on school premises at the time and you’re negotiating with their headmistress to take them out in the Rolls Royce. Can’t see why anyone with any sense of comparison or perspective could make such a defence. Children’s wards of hospitals often have signs saying “Children’s Ward” and lots of bright childish pictures and wall murals. Do you think Savile somehow missed all these signs? Or would you suggest that paralysed/terminally ill adults & children should do more if they want to show they don’t want to be raped/sexually abused?

1000s of women that stupid and gullible? Hmm….ladies comments welcome!
Once tried the old “do you know who I am?” routine on my brother, when trying to queue jump a list. Unfortunately for Roache, my brother did, and his name went to the bottom of the list! Incidentally, my dogs all think that he is a narcissistic devotee of onanism! But then they think that of most celebs! Personally, I think he is getting his excuses in early!

    • Jane B-H

Haha Dogman. You made me chuckle!! I’m always suspicious of idiots who boast about having had a 1000 women. Seems like he needs to count and pursue them to massage his ego, if you pardon the pun. Seems like he thinks his opinion counts. Naaaaaa…..

  12. werdex

I can remember the the last time this story came out…it was about 10 years ago..similar headline and I think the figure was also 1000 women and children which means he probably hasn’t had much luck recently. He and the media seem to like portraying himself as a bit of a ladies man. Look at his face. One side is slightly more evil than the other.

    • Hi werdex.

The front page is not recent. I just thought it was more interesting than the one which accompanied the story.

  13. dogman

Dear William, not that we really doubt the 1000 total, but as I recall, pilots use to record their victims by marking their fuselage, gunslingers by notches on the gun. How do you keep count and are certain parts looking a bit tatty now?

The human potential/new age movement holds that we’re more or less responsible for what befalls us. A space rock fell out of the sky and on your head? Your fault for attracting it by your deeply negative vibes. cf. What the Bleep/The Secret/Law of Attraction etc.

Many disparate groups, from righteous Christians to conspiracy theorists, allege that the CIA and other heavily agenda’d social engineers were behind this mindbending movement.

This misplacing of responsibility has found its way into our authorities’ interpretation of the law and whatever passes for ethics in all public institutions etc. It translates in practice to ‘Blame the victim’. It enables dysfunctionals and psychopaths and paedophiles to get away with the mindbending, irresponsible and dangerous excuses as demonstrated by Mr Roache.

  16. dogman

Very good comments Sam. The placing of stories in the media to coerce the gullible members of the public into believing the victim was responsible was clumsily done in this instance. It came across as a bit Team Coronation Street to me. No man is consistently that stupid that he repeatedly has sex with underage girls, without knowing what he is doing. End of!
