Sulphur or Incense ?

Pope Benedict XVI is resigning.

Apparently, for ‘health reasons’.

Is this the first Pope ever to resign ?

  1. I suggest that the pope has resigned because an arrest warrent has been issued for his crimes against humanity in Canada, the genocide of 50000 native children.

This story about the arrest warrant is all over the place. Do you know if there is anything in it, revered blogmaster, or is it just b******s?

Great news for apocalypticists, now that the Mayan calendar turned out to be a damp squib. According to some old deranged prophet, the next pope is the last one, and he’ll be followed by judgement, doom, and so on. Let’s hope they pick a young one then.

God, “OK, now this is a job for life, Benedict XVI, when I want you upstairs I’ll call you”

Pope Benedict XVI, “Fuck, I’m going to die with this poorly heart, give me a pacemaker”

God, “That’s cheating, you’re meant to come up when I say so, what a half arsed attempt at Poping”

Well then, just a matter of time before the material evidence of his paedophile activities emerges…

Next time Vatican, try to chose a less evil looking bastard. One without a Nazi paedo cv would be preferable.
Oh, and if by some miracle you accidentally chose a truly saintly man, try not to bump him off…

  5. I have to say this word “normal” has been taken completely out of context here. He’s saying what others have “considered” about this subject.
It seems that many people are buying into this “Christian bashing” but before you do, please consider a few things.
Of all professional jobs the LEAST likely to abuse children are “clergy.” Of these the LEAST likely to offend are Catholic clergy. This is a statistical fact.
Please also note that while we’re all aware of through, the the Jimmy Savile case, there is an evil and satanic side to all this.Government and other agencies have been infiltrated. The biggest target for these people is the Catholic church. This is documented and involves planting these people within the church as serving priests etc. There is a battle going on at the moment and priests have been murdered trying to fight it. This is no joke. Falling for the “anti-God” and “anti-Christian” propaganda is ultimately playing exactly into their hands. Why else has there been much more media attention on the Catholic church abuse than on the others. If you really think about it, it fits in with everything else the media and politics have been doing recently to replace our sense of values of right and wrong. Somewhere in the background “they” are laughing.

And as much as I am no fan of Vaticanism, it could be genuine. It isn’t safe to presume that every person of note in Catholicism is a deviant or part of an insidious plot, some are very sincere even if they’re sincerely wrong. Look at the man… He’s worn out. He’s done the best he can insofar is the institution will allow him. The institution is so much bigger than the man. And it needs a travelling pope in order to retain control on all its territories. When your doctor tells you international travelling will kill you, you might not want to go as far as JP2 did, allowing the world to see him gibbering, drooling, shaking and nearly catatonic. It isn’t dignified and I understand Ratzinger always felt that this final image of JP2 rather than a vital, credible religious leader was almost medieval in its inhumanity. There is not a single storm that will shake the adherents of Catholicism, because it has experienced them all and weathered the storm. Far more credible that the old boy is knackered and just wants to close out his season with dignity.

    Interesting post.
I wonder if God told him to ‘GTF out of here there’s heavy Shit coming’
Are retired Pope still infallible? Can he now be bought to book for his crimes?

  8. Ah-Ha! Lifted from ‘b’ over at Ian Bone’s blog-
‘There must be a big rift in the Vatican, for Ratzinger to abdicate.

Do you want a story? Look for the Dutroux connection.

A Belgian court is expected to issue its decision next week on whether to release Dutroux. Everyone in Belgium knows the official story that Dutroux and his wife were acting alone is total bullshit. His wife was released last year, to ‘spend 10 years in a convent’.
Cardinal Danneels, head of the Catholic church in Belgium…raided by Belgian cops in 2010.’
    OH YES!

you are very cynical – by the way I have applied (ex – alter boy unmolested) but could/believe/ be very good as a pontiff

  9. Perhaps the Holy Roman Paedo Emperor has stepped down over some internal schism, that went something like this
    CARDINAL-
‘what the hell do we do now, now that the people know we’re riddled with child-rapists and abusers and have lost what little religious authority we once had’?
    ILL PAPA-
‘Oh, er, I dunno, I’m cashing in my pension from the corrupt Vatican Bank and going on a tour of the underaged fleshpots South East Asia…’

I’m surprised he didn’t just “do a BBC”, and step aside.

  11. Mudplugger

Maybe he resigned once the tests proved that the material content of his church is 100% horse-shit.

  12. Tim Sanders

Harry Redknapp has said it is very flattering to be linked to the job – it is a top top church.

  13. rainbowsophie

This is a very bizarre circumstance indeed – Pope’s just DO NOT retire, they take the job for life. So exactly what is in the pipeline that he doesn’t want to have any part of, cos he appears to be leaving very quickly ! Two weeks notice is not very long for any job – let alone ‘Gods Representative’ on earth! Did he leave or was he pushed??? :)

  14. norman

off back to ireland perhaps?more paedo priests to cover for.

  15. len

Oh no, who will be infallible once he goes on garden leave?

  16. Alan B

God must have told him to go. And Tony Blair will be filling out his application form even as we speak…

  17. homer

According to wiki he is not the first pope to resign, but he is the first for over 600 hundred years

    • Mudplugger

Not quite 600 – it was actually 598 years ago when Gregory XII quit.
(No reason to connect Gregory XII with operation Fernbridge.)

  18. I have cancelled all of my appointments for today and retired to my bed.

  19. Jonny

How can God’s Representative on Earth, resign? If he’s unwell, he will die, and they elect a new one; is this not how it works?

    Or something more sinister?
