Reblogged from Guy Fawkes' blog:
Ninety seconds of audio released by The Times media correspondent Ben Webster has undone former BBC Director General Mark Thompson's evidence to both Parliament and the Pollard Review over what he knew about Savile. The damning tape from an interview last October has Thompson admitting that he knew the fateful Newsnight investigation was into Savile and about "sexual abuse of some kind"

i tried to get through it but the guys um um um ah ah the the, this gut is seriously trying to cover his ass but just sounds like a stuttering criminal trying to lie his way out of trouble, with loads of doublespeak or news-speak

‘Everybody Knows’
Well that’s a pretty deadly warning shot across the bows from NewsCorp. A sort of, just watch how you go with ‘our kids’ or we start to step up the pressure, wonder who or what the next one will be aimed at :) My bet is a senior member of the police or judiciary. It is almost becoming a spectator sport sitting on the sidelines and watching them start to implode.!
Interestingly, Nigel Farage met with Murdoch the Hack and was apparently appealing to the ‘Kingmaker’ of UK politics to do a deal whereby UKIP would be happy to form a coalition with the Tories if they dumped The Camoron…I wonder if this has anything to do with this?
Blimey – coalition’s flying all over the place, do you wanna be in my gang etc. etc. Has Murdoch REALLY got that much power in UK politics ?…
Er, yeah? Why d’ya think the old Skeletor has as good as got away with phone hacking and bribery on an industrial scale? What I want to know is who’s behind him- their are the rumours that he became a CIA asset back in Oz when he was starting out on his criminal, sorry, journalistic career…
So who’s likely to be Cameron’s successor ? Bojo or one of Murdoch’s other assets ?

Sorry to appear somewhat naive Incy but I am having a hard time trying to keep abreast of all this insider and shady double dealing. I realise that Murdoch is very powerful, but if he is a ‘Kingmaker’ as you say then that surely means he is holding all the cards and to a certain extent is playing a superlative game in the process. But remember Maxwell also thought he was all powerful and look what happened to him.
Sophie never admit you don’t know something; men don’t, that’s why they get better jobs and get paid more than us. :-)
Tomorrow’s sunday express front page looks interesting, Savile victim refuses to pay licence fee.

Has to be the ‘British Mussolini’ BoJo- Unless Camoron’s lot really want to field the vile incompetant Theresa May (who incidentally shares the same name as a US pornstar…).
Soph- Murdoch like Maxwell, is also expendable- those with masters always are, when they outlive their usefulness or become a liability, but in his case, not just yet, but only just…
So, that is how a top media professional sounds, here in the UK! An international high-flyer, no less.
